Breaking Ground N Ireland – Aug 2023

This summer a team from MIW felt called to go to reopen and break open the spiritual ground, to release the ancient prayers and worship of God’s people, and to bless the land and its people.  They were inspired by Hosea 10:12.  Sow for yourselves righteousness, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the LORD, until he comes and showers righteousness on you.

Simon shares that creation is the manifest expression of God’s Word, his creative spoken expression bringing form and life into being.  When we were created, God’s breath brought us to life.  It is the Creator’s breath that we breathe into and out of our lungs.  As a creative people we bring all types of expression and meaning as we go.  In mission, we engage with the land and the people and seek God’s leading in creative movement, dance, and sounds through rhythms, music and song, so our manifest expression of God is made known to the created earth and the spiritual realms.

So as we gather to worship, we honour, sacrifice, give praise to, and draw close to God, with our breath and with our bodies, that same breath from the beginning of creation.

As we breathe out, it becomes the act of declaring the Creator’s goodness and his ongoing love and kindness that never ceases.  The spirit of who God is.  His very breath and the sound of his breathing.  We brought this act of breathing out worship in movement and rhythm to the high places of Lisnabreeny and Scrabo, the ancient and new places of worship at Nendrum monastery and St Mary’s Church, Ballybeen, and in the place of political power at Stormont.

To God be the glory!
